From the start of this project on Flux, my rout has been very much illustrative even though I have chosen to do general graphics as my specialism. I'm currently deciding whether or not to change into the illustration group, although I will carry on & finish this brief first.
I think my strengths are within hand drawn illustration especially using fine line pen & sometimes water colours. I already know I am not overly good with computer software and this is defiantly one of my major weaknesses. I will have to address this issue & become more computer literate if I am to get anywhere with in this industry. Even if it is only the basics I'm determined not to let this hinder me.
I much prefer hand drawn & hand made looking graphics to what can be achieved on programs, although I appreciate some work that has been created in that way.
The InDesign workshop that we are currently attending to create a interactive digital portfolio is helping me gain some skills within my weaker areas & is proving to be a useful tool in what will one day be our real attempt at applying for jobs & sending out, with my CV, a sample of my work.
I really hope to get a job within illustration one day. I have been looking on line recently for illustration jobs that are out there and there are so many freelance jobs available. The only problem with this is that not working in an agency may mean that work is sporadic and not constant.
